Jesus' disciples felt that same way one evening. While crossing the sea with Jesus, they found themselves in a "great windstorm...and the waves were breaking into the boat." (Mark 4:37) Imagine how it would be on a boat in the middle of the sea during a storm!
Follow along starting in verse 38:
"But [Jesus] was in the stern, asleep on the cushion. And they woke him and said to him, 'Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?' And he awoke and rebuked the wind and said to the sea, 'Peace! Be still!' And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. He said to them, 'Why are you so afraid? Have you still no faith?' And they were filled with great fear and said to one another, 'Who then is this, that even wind and sea obey him?'" (Mark 4: 38-41)The disciples were probably terrified of what was going to happen to them! How would you react? How do you react when you're in a trial? Are you afraid of the outcome?
In Christ we can be confident that we will never pass through rough waters alone. How comforting it is to know that He will always be with us ready to calm the wind and sea!
